Exports and Health Certificates

Consignments of fish/fishery products and molluscan shellfish exported to third countries are accompanied by a Health Certificate. These Health certificates are issued by the SFPA who are the Competent Authority under Irish and European legislation, in respect of fishery products manufactured, processed or packaged in Ireland.  Health certificates are not required when a consignment is being exported within the European Union.  A Food Business Operator (FBO) who requires Health Certificates to third countries must give reasonable notice (a minimum of 2 working days) to their local SFPA office to allow sufficient time for their application to be processed.  Application forms for a Health Certificate and an explanatory booklet may be obtained from your local SFPA port office or downloaded from this website.
